Responsible Research Assessment
This statement sets out JQPP's approach to responsible research assessment.
The Japan Quarterly of Professional Practice (JQPP) supports the principles of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) and is committed to responsible approaches to research assessment.
JQPP evaluates scholarly and professional work primarily on the merits of the work itself, including its methodological soundness, clarity, relevance, transparency, and contribution to knowledge or professional practice.
Journal-level metrics, rankings, citation counts, or the perceived prestige of an author’s institutional affiliation are not used as substitutes for assessing the quality of an individual submission.
Where quantitative indicators are considered, they should be interpreted transparently, contextually, and alongside qualitative assessment rather than used as standalone measures of research quality.
JQPP will periodically review its editorial and assessment practices to maintain alignment with responsible research assessment principles.
